On this day, May 7, 2023: Shubman Gill smashes 94* as Gujarat Titans outclass Lucknow Super Giants. It was the 51st match of the Indian Premier League 2026 played between Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans. Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha opened the batting and straight away took on the bowlers in the powerplay. The duo stitched up a massive 142 run partnership for the opening wicket. Both batters went past their half centuries and continued to put Gujarat Titans in a dominant position.
Saha was the first to be dismissed for 81 runs from 43 balls. It was a terrific knock from the opener and Lucknow Super Giants finally got their first wicket in the 13th over. Hardik Pandya came into the middle and straight away took on the bowlers. He smashed 25 runs from 15 balls. Shubman Gill continued his onslaught and along with Miller provided an excellent finish for the Gujarat Titans as they posted a total of 227/2 at the end of the first innings. Gill was unbeaten on 94* from just 51 balls and it was a spectacular innings.
LSG start well but Mohit Sharma picks up four wickets to dent the chase
Lucknow Super Giants started the chase with both openers going all guns blazing. Kyle Mayers and Quinton de Kock put up a 88 run partnership for the opening wicket. It was an excellent counter attacking knock as Lucknow Super Giants were right in the game at the halfway stage of the innings.
Quinton De Kock smashed a half century but just as Lucknow Super Giants were doing well, Mohit Sharma came into the attack and delivered a masterclass. He picked up four wickets as Lucknow Super Giants were reduced for 171/7 at the end of the innings. No other batters except the openers could get going and Mohit Sharma finished his spell with 4/29 in his four overs. Shubman Gill was the player of the match for his outstanding performance.
