It is one thing to be a firm favourite of your own teammates, those you play along with on the ground given your outstanding talent. But it is something else, something entirely different to be so special and unique in terms of manifestation of your talent that you become a favourite of your opponent team’s captain. Isn’t it- what do you reckon? The same, at this point of time, you’d note, applies to someone like Vaibhav Suryavanshi given his skill set and talent and Pat Cummins of the Sunrisers Hyderabad unit. As the IPL approached yet another weekend bonanza, it was time for the Royals to clash with Hyderabad and the highly rated Suryavanshi’s blistering talent came to the fore, as the youngster fired yet another IPL ton.

Creating impact with the bat

Even though the end result did not go his Rajasthan side’s way, Suryavanshi’s quickfire century- 103 runs that came off just 37 odd deliveries- made SRH shudder with discomfort, as the Bihar-born batter made huge inroads with the bat making the fielding side suffer. His ability to find the gaps on either side punctuated by the daring ability to find the fence not only stunned fans but ignited a feeling of awe- how else would you describe it- on the part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad captain.

What Pat Cummins feels about Suryavanshi

This leaves us to speculate what does Pat Cummins, Suryavanshi’s competitor on that particular occasion, feel about the young left handed talent?

To that end, in what could seem like a surprise of sorts, the famous Australian cricketer, a redoubtable all rounder himself, stated in absolute clear terms that the RR top order batter had become his ā€œnew favourite playerā€!

He would elaborate further  Lavishing effusive praise on the talented youngster, the lanky all rounder elaborated further on the talent of the batter that has made him such a fan.

Cummins would say, ā€œHe’s great to watch. He’s good fun. He’s impressive… yeah, he’s had a great start to his career. I like the way he plays. He takes the Bowlers on!ā€

Now truth be told, this is rather impressive. Not that it’s not easy to draw praise from Australian cricketers but then it’s not always a common sight to see such an eminent cricketer highlight the reason for liking a talent who, cricketing career wise, is pretty much a newborn.

Vaibhav’s injury

Yesterday, it wasn’t hard to see that the big hitting left hander wasn’t in the field owing to a visible hamstring discomfort that meant that he had to be helped on his way back to the dugout. But gladly, Suryavanshi hasn’t, in the words of RR batting coach Vikram Rathour, sustained any serious injury. He’s being helped and reprieved to get fitter and back in his feat to play the next or forthcoming contest featuring the Rajathan Royals. And that’s absolutely brilliant news for just about everybody.
