Fans on X witnessed another Punjab Kings aggressive batting approach, with the team at 117/2 in just 11 overs against Rajasthan Royals in New Chandigarh on Tuesday. PBKS once again put on a strong batting display and their approach in powerplay that has not even fumbled before bowling of Rajasthan Royals. Only Priyansh Arya was troubled by Jofra Archer, but before getting dismissed he scored a quick 29 of 11 balls.
Prabhsimran Singh and Cooper Conolly gave PBKS a flying start in powerplay as usual although Connolly fell short to a big shot and departed at 30(14). Even after 2 wickets down PBKS per over run rate has not fallen down. With Shreyas Iyer and Prabhsimram going strong on field PBKS is looking for a big total on board.
Twitter PBKS fans reacted to PBKSâ phenomenal batting. Here are a few reactions-
MY PREVIEW CALL đź RR made the right toss decision because this pitch could offer something with the new ball. But Punjabâs batting is so deep and so confident that even early wickets may not be enough. Prediction: PBKS edge it in a high-scoring game. #PBKSvsRR #IPL2026 https://t.co/fpN2ZmMCqn

âPowerplays have become decisiveâ- Punjab Kingâs Coach Brad Haddin
No wonder the T20I game has changed over the years a lot. Most teams now approach for a high score match and have a deep batting lineup- PBKS is such an example. In addition, powerplays have become the most important and decisive factor in a match's turning point in T20. Two or three early wickets within powerplay can bring early collapse and a good 80-90 in powerplay can give the foundation to players to score big in a match keeping the opponent in pressure.
Brad Haddin, Punjabâs Head Coach, has shared his view on this. He stated, âWhat we are seeing is a trend throughout the tournament and how top teams have been in the first six overs. Itâs so hard to stop teams now, which is why Powerplays have become decisive, and many games are being decided within two powerplays in two innings. You have an impact rule also now in IPL that can bring an extra batsman to go deep, allowing the top order to go harder. From a coachâs point of view, you have got to keep on finding ways to bring the score downâ
PBKS has recently achieved an exceptional feat as they successfully chased down the highest run in the history of IPL, which is 265 against DC.
