The Royal Challengers Bengaluru put on quite the show at Dharamshala with a spectacular batting effort setting a total of 255 on board. This is the highest-ever total in a playoff match and what a time to bring it up for RCB. It has been a collective batting effort as every single batter has made a contribution and the scoreboard tells you everything you need to know. The innings by Rajat Patidar has shown the kind of responsibility he has taken up as the skipper for the side. Krunal Pandya’s knock along with Patidar was another reason why they reached such a huge total.
At the Dharamshala, the experts stated that a total above 210 would be ideal and RCB definitely did have the batting unit to reach such a total. However, the RCB batting unit has pulled off a masterclass in the first innings and they definitely do have the upper hand at the moment. It will be a huge mountain for the Gujarat Titans to climb and a run chase does seem impossible considering the total on board.

Patidar and Krunal’s 95-Run stand helps RCB reach 255
The Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to field first with the dew factor in play. Venkatesh Iyer kicked off the innings with some powerful and innovative boundary hitting until he was dismissed by Kagiso Rabada. Then it was Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal that carried on the innings despite the early wicket. However, Jason Holder produced a fightback with two wickets in 3 balls dismissing both the set batters and GT seemed to be gaining control over the game.
Krunal Pandya and Rajat Patidar knew that they had to stay for a couple of overs and their initial risk taking was purely calculated on the merit of the ball. But as soon as they got set, both of them took off and then there was no stopping the duo. The partnership that lasted less than 8 overs brought up a staggering 95-run stand. Rajat Patidar scored a stunning knock of 93 off just 33 balls, including 5 fours and 9 sixes. He yet again produced one of the finest knocks in the IPL playoffs and that could just be the game for RCB.
It will not be an easy run chase for the Gujarat Titans as they have to chase a mammoth total and the RCB bowling unit is a lethal one as well. With the kind of conditions and swing that the new ball offers at the venue, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood and Jacob Duffy could be a deadly pace trio. It will be an interesting run chase coming up from the Gujarat Titans battling it out in the middle to book the ticket to the final.
