Former India cricketer Robin Uthappa has picked his all-time India ODI XI and one of the biggest surprises was leaving out Rohit Sharma despite the opener being the country’s third-highest run-scorer in the format. Robin Uthappa shared his team on Instagram through a ‘This or That’ challenge. Uthappa picked Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly as his opening pair. Sachin Tendulkar is the highest run-scorer in the history of ODI cricket, while Ganguly was selected ahead of Rohit Sharma to partner him at the top. Rohit’s omission is likely to spark debate among fans considering his incredible record in the format, including three ODI double centuries and several memorable performances in ICC tournaments.
Star Indian batter Virat Kohli was slotted in at number three, while Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina formed the middle order. Most fans agreed with this middle order, with many considering it one of India's strongest in ODI cricket. MS Dhoni was named the captain of the side while also taking up the wicketkeeper's role. Dhoni is the only captain to have won all three major ICC white-ball trophies, making his selection as captain a no-brainer.

In the all-rounders section, Kapil Dev and Ravindra Jadeja were slotted in at numbers seven and eight. Kapil Dev, who led India to its first-ever ODI World Cup title in 1983, would provide great value with both the bat and his pace bowling. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja has been the backbone of the Indian side over the last decade. The left-arm spinner has proved himself with both the bat and the ball and remains one of the best all-rounders in world cricket.
When it came to the bowlers, Robin Uthappa went with Anil Kumble as the specialist spinner, while Zaheer Khan and Jasprit Bumrah were picked as the pacers. Zaheer led India's bowling attack for a long period of time, while Bumrah has established himself as one of the finest fast bowlers of the modern era. These are once again among the top performers in the format and there is hardly any argument over their selection. Robin Uthappa completed his India all-time ODI XI and, despite picking a strong squad, the only real debate was about leaving out Rohit Sharma.
