With no fewer than 418 runs from 15 matches the last time around when he featured in the Indian Premier League, Mumbai Indians Rohit Sharma, then perhaps not at peak fitness, still scored runs and his batting average touched almost 30. Forget not, there were as many as four half centuries against his name in what was a fairly credible outing with the bat in 2025, the previous IPL season.

But just imagine what kind of damage and what level of pain can a much fitter and leaner looking Rohit Sharma cause this time around for where facts stand, then it can be said with visible confidence and unfettered clarity that the present day Rohit Sharma is akin to a vulture seemingly ready to attack its prey with the willow.

But, how so?

Rohit has undergone a noticeable fitness transformation over the past year.

Earlier reports in 2025 indicated he had already shed around 10–11 kg through disciplined training, and coaches have recently described him as “much fitter” heading into the new IPL season.

In short, Rohit is clearly leaner, sharper, and in better physical condition, but the specific claim of a 15 kg weight loss or a current weight of 70 kg should be treated with caution until officially verified.

Sporting all smiles and seeming ready to contest in what can be a thrilling and action packed season ahead, Rohit Sharma will be looking to make some serious inroads with the bat.

What’s more important and perhaps even desperately needed this time around for the Mumbai Indians is to take their campaign towards the far end of the famous Indian Premier League.

And for that to happen, it will be up to the former captain of the fabled side to step up and deliver a brilliant season with the bat in hand.

For someone who has already scored north of 7,000 runs in the mega franchise league, maybe time has come and is about right to prove to the cricketing cosmos just why he is the Hitman.

What do you reckon! Here’s to the lean mean hopefully unstoppable force of nature then!
