Ruturaj Gaikwad was appointed as the white ball captain of Maharashtra side in 2020. He could not win any tournament with them but the team did well to make it to the Final of the 2022/2023 season. He performed well for the side in 2021 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He has captained Maharashtra in 18 games and won 10 of those matches in SMAT.
