In a heartwarming gesture, legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar addressed the Indian women's cricket team on the turf of Lord's Cricket Ground just before the start of the morning session on the final day of the one-off Test against England. One of the greatest cricketers of all time, Tendulkar was seen walking out and interacting with the Indian women's side, as well as the support staff, providing an unforgettable motivational boost with India standing on the cusp of a famous Test victory on English soil.
Commentator Nick Knight said before the morning session began, "They're about to win this historic Test match, surely in the morning session, and some incredible words there from Sachin. It is so good to see him here. It is so good to see him here involved in women's cricket as well. And what a moment that is for all those players."
The Indian cricket team also shared images of the Master Blaster greeting the players ahead of Day 4.
India Women complete iconic win at Lord's
India Women created history by winning the first-ever women's Test played at Lord's. They had dominated proceedings across the first three days and entered Day 4 in complete control. After declaring their second innings at 341/7 in 86.3 overs, courtesy of Yastika Bhatia's brilliant 113, India reduced England to 130/6 at stumps on Day 3. With victory all but certain heading into the final day, it could not have been a better moment for Tendulkar to visit and inspire the team.
India Women struck early on Day 4 to tighten their grip on the contest. Although Sophie Ecclestone scored a fighting half-century, it proved too little, too late as England were bowled out for 186. The hosts added just 56 runs to their overnight score, handing India Women a commanding 270-run victory in the one-off Test. It was a truly memorable day for the Indian women's team.
