Gujarat Titans opener Sai Sudharsan opened up on his wild celebration to mark the first century of his IPL 2026 season. Sudharsan achieved the feat during the 34th league-stage game of the current IPL season, where the Titans were up against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at latter’s home, M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. After being asked to bat first, the visitors got off to a solid start, and openers Sudharsan and Shubman Gill stitched a 128-run partnership.
While skipper Gill had to depart for 32 off 24, Sudharsan stood firm and came up with his third IPL century and first of the season. The 24-year-old looked at GT’s dugout, where his teammates gave him a standing ovation, and gave a roar. With this, Sudharsan also surpassed the 2000-run mark and became the fastest player to do so. During the mid-innings break, Sudharsan opened up on the celebration and said that it meant more than just a hundred for him and he wanted to put his best for the team.
“I think I have so much high standards for myself. I wanted the team, sorry, I wanted to contribute for my team and always put them in a great position. I was starting well, but I was not able to do that for the team. So I think that meant so much more than a hundred for me. It was more for the team, for the people who believed in me inside the dressing room, inside the dugout. So I think it's for them and I hope we'll have a great fielding today,” the GT batter added.

Didn't try to take a lot of control of the inning: Sudharsan on his remarkable knock
The batter was asked if he did anything different than usual days to which he admitted not taking a lot of control. He added that he wanted to let things unfold. “I didn't try to take a lot of control of the inning. I just let it unfold and let it go because the more you let go, I think the more you can be at your best and at the present. So I feel I was little behind few games and I think I let it go really well today,” Sudharsan admitted.
The Chennai cricketer also talked about the 205-run total that the 2022 winners posted for the defending champions. “It's a very good score for our bowling side. And yes, the wicket was not so easy to do a lot of shotmaking. If the bowlers err, it was an opportunity for the batters to get runs. Otherwise, I think it's not so easy to play shots because it's not so true,” he added.
Notably, Sudharsan, at three centuries, is just one ton behind skipper Shubman Gill for most hundreds for the Titans.
