Chennai Super Kings opener Sanju Samson recorded his third fifty of the season against Delhi Capitals on Tuesday, May 5. Both teams locked horns in the 48th league-stage clash of the IPL 2026 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, where DC skipper won the toss and invited the rivals to field first. The Capitals, who were coming off a seven-wicket win over the Rajasthan Royals, were aiming to continue their dominance at home. However, the Super Kings’ bowling lineup led by Noor Ahmad wreaked havoc, and restricted them to 155-7 in 20 overs.
In return, the five-time IPL winners got off to a decent start, but quickly got their first success in the form of skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad. The second wicket soon fell right after the powerplay, and just when things started to look uncertain, Samson once again came off as an anchor and stood firm to record his third fifty of the season. The wicketkeeper-batter utilized 32 deliveries to reach the mark. This also marked his 27th fifty in his IPL career.

Sanju 2.0 is a different beast. Pacing the innings like a grandmaster. People used to talk about his inconsistency, but this season he’s been the definition of 'top class' every time he walks out
