The 34 year old cricketer may not be a spring chicken or someone who’s just beginning his fabled journey in the game but happens to be still a useful draw as far as the pinnacle of India’s domestic cricket competition is concerned. And moreover where the 2026-27 season of domestic cricket competition stands in the country, then the big hitting batter has made some interesting news as far as electing a whole new team in the tenet of the game is concerned.
So the big question is just what is the mega development with regard to Shashank Singh and what becomes of his future in Indian domestic cricket competitions?
Now, according to trusted sources covering the development of cricket in the country, Shashank Singh is no longer going to continue with his Chattisgarh side in domestic competitions. That now becomes his former team. So where’s he moving to now?
The experienced campaigner is now moving to Pondicherry for the 2026-27 domestic competitions. As a matter of fact, as per reliable sources, both Shashank Singh and Prasad Pawar are going to be the guest players of the Pondicherry team in the domestic competition for the 2026-27 edition.
The same has been confirmed by the former president of the Pondicherry Cricket Association, Mr P. Damodaran. The 34 year old cricketer happens to be a noted name as far as the Punjab Kings side are concerned and forms an important part of their IPL SQUAD.
But that being said; when the cricketer was himself reached out to for a statement on the matter, the following is what Singh, a dominant right handed hitter as seen in the IPL shared:
“Yes, I’m quitting Chhattisgarh. I’ve taken the NOC from CSCS. I was told I was only an IPL. I suffered serious shoulder and finger injuries last season, but the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh didn’t support me at all in this phase. I was told that I only want to play in the IPL and not for Chhattisgarh in domestic cricket!”
In Shashank Singh’s case the matter seems to be clearly a domestic team not coming in support of a notable talent but why that happened is something only time can reveal for at the moment there is not much clarity. What can, however, be submitted is that a cricketing structure must offer support toward its talent, irrespective of what department or skill set a player represents.
