The Indian star all-rounder Shreyanka Patil has unfortunately twisted her ankle while attempting to field off the first ball of her over in the innings. She looked to be in serious discomfort and she was stretchered off the field immediately following the incident. Shreyanka floated the delivery up on the middle and when Phebe Molkenboer hit the ball to long-on there was a half-hearted stop made by the fielder. Shreyanka ran after the ball to tidy it up but she ended up twisting her ankle while fielding the ball. It doesn't look too good for India as she has been one of their standout spinners in recent games and an injury to her will be a void too big to fill.
India were in a pretty comfortable position in the game with a total of 210 on board and the Netherlands would have had to bat out of their skin to achieve the target. The Indian bowling unit began their innings on a solid note as well with a wicket in the 5th over of the game Nandni Sharma. Then after a couple of decent partnerships, the wickets started to fall like a deck of cards and within no time they were 98-5. Netherlands have really struggled to get a hold over the game and with the bat, they have been definitely below par.

India cruise to 95-run victory over Netherlands
Shreyanka Patil has been one of those bowlers who can win games single-handedly for her side and her injury would gravely affect their bowling unit. The spinners have a lot to work with in the conditions in this World Cup and Shreyanka Patil is handy in such conditions. India will be thinking about a potential all-rounder to take up her role as she can bat down the order as well. Shafali Verma was called up to finish the over and she did a brilliant job to close out the powerplay as she conceded just 3 runs in the all important 6th over of the game.
The Indian women have been on the charge against Netherlands and it all started with the might of Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana to start off. Both the batters got off to flying starts and they went past the half-century mark as well. None of the other batters were able to match the quality of batting that the openers had put on display except Richa Ghosh. The RCB wicket-keeper fired a crucial cameo of 20 off 8 balls and that helped India secure a commendable total on board. Deepti Sharma ended her knock by striking at 500 as she scored a six and a four in the only two balls that she faced.
The Indian Women secured their victory by 95 runs and it was a comfortable victory for the side. The weightage of the injury of Shreyanka Patil hasn’t been reflected in this game but they would definitely need her in the coming games. Nonetheless, India have gotten off to a solid start in the tournament with two wins from two games against the likes of Pakistan and Netherlands.
