If there’s a particular cricketer whose journey and development and subsequent career performances and that ability to bounce back from the odds has garnered much interest from around the country, then it’s none other than Shreyas Iyer.
And truth be told, it’s that time of the year where Shreyas Iyer will once again be in the spotlight especially with regards to his captaining of the Punjab Kings side.
But like with most cricketing journeys and careers in development, Iyer too has faced his share of challenges, one particular instance that he opened up on and emphasised with the checkered franchise league just around the corner!
Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer recently spoke about one of the most difficult phases of his career, recalling the injury he suffered during India’s last tour of Australia.
Iyer, who was part of the squad, picked up a serious spleen injury that required hospitalization. The setback also led to significant weight loss, making his recovery even more challenging.
Reflecting on that period, Iyer said it is never easy to return after an injury. He revealed that he had lost around seven kilograms and, although he regained his fitness within two months, putting the weight back on took a lot of effort.
