Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer unleashed his inner superman to take an acrobatic catch of Hardik Pandya in IPL 2026. The Mumbai Indians locked horns with the Kings in the 24th league-stage game of the tournament at Wankhede Stadium on Thursday. The game saw the visiting skipper win the toss and invite the hosts to put the score on the board first. Mumbai, currently going through a form slump, got off to a slow start, owing to two early setbacks by Arshdeep Singh.
While Quinton de Kock’s century gave the side some stability, Punjab fielders weren’t going to go easy on the five-time champions. During the 18th over, visiting skipper Shreyas Iyer put in unbelievable efforts to take the catch of his Mumbai counterpart- Hardik Pandya. Pandya tried to hit big off a Marco Jansen delivery, and Iyer ran to his left from the long-on and reverse cusped to get the hold of the ball mid-air.

However, just when he realised that he was going to get over the rope, he spotted Xavier Bartlett nearby and lobbed it straight to him while being in the air. Bartlett grabbed the catch, putting the end to Pandya’s knock at 14 runs in 12 balls. As soon as Iyer got up, he asked the Mumbai crowd to applaud him, while MI dugout, especially Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav looked stunned by his effort.
Mumbai Indians post 195 at the loss of six wickets
The Indians, who have only managed to record one win thus far, managed to put 195 runs at the loss of six wickets. After losing opener Ryan Rickelton and Suryakumar Yadav on two consecutive deliveries in the second over, the hosts heavily depended on Quinton de Kock’s first century of the season. The Proteas superstar came up with a 60-ball 112* with a combination of eight boundaries and seven maximums.
Naman Dhir put up 50 runs in 31 balls, while Pandya walked back at 14 runs. Apart from them, the lower-batting order failed to perform and could manage to post single-digit scores. Sherfane Rutherford scored 1 run while Tilak Varma and Mayank Rawat scored 8 and 0*, respectively.
