Smriti Mandhana has unfollowed Palash Muchhal on Instagram, signalling the end of their relationship. This comes after Mandhana, the Indian women’s cricket team vice-captain, announced that her wedding with Palash has been called off. “I need to clarify that the wedding is called off. I would like to close this matter here and implore all of you to do the same," she wrote. Mandhana also changed her Instagram bio, removing the evil eye ( nazar) emoji. Smriti also unfollowed Palash’s sister Palak Muchhal, who is a music composer.

This put end to weeks of speculation surrounding her personal life. The couple, who were set to marry on November 24, had postponed the ceremony after Mandhana’s father, Shriniwas Mandhana, was hospitalised due to sudden health concerns. On Sunday, both Palash and Smriti took to Instagram to confirm that the wedding would not go ahead.Following the announcements, the duo unfollowed each other on the platform. Smriti has also deleted all wedding- and engagement-related pictures and videos, including her proposal clip.

Calling herself a “very private person”, Mandhana said the need to set the record straight compelled her to speak. She requested fans and the public to “respect the privacy of both families” and allow them the “space to process and move on”. Mandhana, who is preparing for India’s upcoming international season, said her focus remains firmly on cricket. She has resumed her practice ahead of the tour of Sri Lanka.

Mandhana, 28, has been a central figure in Indian women’s cricket for nearly a decade, and her presence in the batting line-up has been crucial across formats and she was the leading run getter for India Women in a successful World Cup campaign. With India set for a busy 2026 calendar, Smriti reiterated that her professional commitments remain her priority.
