
Former India captain Sourav Ganguly celebrated his 54th birthday with a special honour after being inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame following a decision at the ICC's global annual conference in Edinburgh. The former skipper became the 12th Indian cricketer to enter the prestigious Hall of Fame. Ganguly thanked ICC chairman Jay Shah and described the recognition as a huge honour. Several former cricketers including Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh congratulated him on social media after being inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Sourav Ganguly played 113 Tests, scoring 7,212 runs, and represented India in 311 One-Day Internationals, amassing 11,363 runs. As captain, he led India through one of the team's most successful periods. After his retirement, Ganguly served as the BCCI president during the Covid-19 pandemic and currently works as the Director of Cricket for Delhi Capitals in the IPL and WPL, besides being the head coach of Pretoria Capitals in SA20.
With his induction, Ganguly joins fellow Indians Bishan Singh Bedi, Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Vinoo Mankad, Diana Edulji, Virender Sehwag, Neetu David and Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the ICC Hall of Fame.

Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar was among the first to congratulate his long-time opening partner after Sourav Ganguly's induction into the ICC Hall of Fame. Few opening partnerships in cricket have been as iconic as the one shared by Tendulkar and Ganguly, with the duo playing a key role in several memorable victories for India.
Taking to social media platform X, Tendulkar wrote a heartfelt message for his former teammate. “There aren't too many surprises left after knowing each other since we were 14. This wasn't one either. Congratulations. So happy to see you in the ICC Hall of Fame," the Master Blaster tweeted.
World Cup winners Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh, who made their international debut under Sourav Ganguly, also congratulated him on social media. After taking over the captaincy in 2000 following the match fixing crisis, Ganguly transformed the Indian side and instilled a fearless attitude into the youngsters which helped India become a strong team in world cricket over the coming years.
