Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian team won the recently concluded T20 World Cup after beating New Zealand at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Suryakumar Yadav, who has been part of India's T20 setup for over 5 years posted a video on social media thanking fans, god and everyone else involved in his journey. He reflected on last 5 years journey, winning 2024 and 2026 T20 World Cups for India.
Suryakumar Yadav played a crucial role for India in the 2024 T20 World Cup triumph; especially by taking spectacular catch in the final of 2024 T20 World Cup, engraving India's name on the trophy. In 2026, he lifted the trophy as captain of Indian team. He played a crucial role not just as a captain but also as a batter in the first game against United States of America in first match of Group Stages at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. When the whole team was struggling to score runs, Surya stood up and scored all-important 80-odd runs.

Suryakumar Yadav was challenged in the T20 World Cup as captain, losing momentum in the Group Stages and also losing Super 8 game against South Africa in T20 World Cup. However, he came back strongly, winning the crucial games against West Indies and England, before winning final against New Zealand.
Suryakumar Yadav has now won two T20 World Cups and also carries a few IPL titles to his name. It will be interesting to see whether Mumbai Indians makes him the captain ahead of the 2026 season.
