Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav scored another half-century in the third T20I match against New Zealand. He was woefully out of form last year where he averaged less than 15 with a strike rate of less than 120 but this year has been a good start for him. The star Indian batter has n ow scored back to back half centuries. Let us look at how twitter reacted.

After a rough patch, Suryakumar Yadav scored a half century against New Zealand in the second T20I in Raipur. India were chasing a target of 209 and the Indian captain led from the front scoring 82 runs of just 37 balls and was unbeaten in the end. It was Suryakumar’s first half century after 23 innings and 468 days. In the third T20I match of the series he continued the form by scoring 57 runs of just 26 balls. He has been involved in two 100 run partnerships in these two games. In the second T20I, Surya put on a 122 run partnership with Ishan Kishan and today Surya put on a 102 run partnership with Abhishek Sharma.

Abhishek Sharma meanwhile smashed the second fastest half century by an Indian against New Zealand. He scored a 14 ball half century and for Suryakumar with the World Cup coming in just under a month it was important for him to get some runs under his belt. Now back to back half centuries will give a huge boost to the Indian side.

Suryakumar looked in glorious touch as India chased down 154 runs in just 10 overs against the Kiwis, finishing unbeaten on 57 off 26 balls as he scored six fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 219. Suryakumar Yadav also has the record for most fifties with a strike rate of more than 200 for an Indian batter having scored 10 of those. The next best is Abhishek Sharma with seven. India won the fourth T20I match against New Zealand by eight wickets. They chased down a target of 154 in 10 overs and have taken a 3-0 lead in the five match series. The fourth T20I will be played on 28th January.
