United States of America beat Netherlands by 93 runs in the 21st match of the WT20. It was a clinical performance from USA as they put up an all-round show in Chennai to defeat the Dutch side. USA were batting first and got off to a flier as the openers put up 27 within three overs but lost the wicket of Shayan Jahangir. USA captain Monank Patel looked in good touch and scored 36 runs of 22 balls which included three fours and one six. Saiteja Mukkamalla was the star of the show as he played some terrific strokes. USA lost a few wickets as they were reduced to 105/3 but Mukamalla put up a partnership with Milind and later Shubham Ranjane finished things off in style as he scored an unbeaten 48 runs of just 24 balls. Mukkamalla was dismissed for 79 runs of 51 balls and it was a terrific knock from the young batter.
The Netherlands bowlers did not find much help from the surface as it was a very good pitch for batting and rewarded the good stroke play. Bas De Leede was the pick of the bowlers from Netherlands as he finished with 3/37 in his four overs while Van Beek also did a good job giving away 28 runs and picking up one wicket. USA had a great finish to the innings as they ended up with 196/6 at the end of the first innings.
It was an above par total but the surface was good and Dutch batters would have hoped to rise up to the challenger. But it was not to be as they lost the opener early and were reduced to 9/1. Max O Dowd along with Bas de Leede played some good shots and brought Netherlands back in the game but soon the partnership was broken as Netherlands were 41/2 at the end of five overs.
From that point they could not recover and kept losing wickets as they collapsed from 53/4 to 96/9. It was the spin of Harmeet Singh who did the most damage picking up four wickets. Netherlands were bowled out for 103 and USA won the match. Harmeet Singh was the player of the match and this was the first win for USA in this WT20.
