At the moment, not a tremendous lot is going right for the Indian Cricket team that is still in the United Kingdom. Just when one thought that the series defeat sustained to the Ireland men’s senior team was perhaps a weird or one off occurrence, more of a shock outcome than something one could have been premeditated with any amount of certainty, India also lost the series to England 3-0, with another contest to go. It’s important to remember that India lost the chance of winning the opening game as it was rained out.
And not long after the series defeat to Harry Brook’s team that questions have been to be posed at the current Gautam Gambhir-led side. First, the team’s decision to part with the 2026 T20 World Cup winning captain Suryakumar Yadav, who was dropped from the team and later, the axing of Sanju Samson has led to a wide spectrum of public debate among fans that rages on even as of date.
Moreover, the series defeat and India being bundled out for 76 all out has posed tough questions at some of the current bowling talents in the team with many asking whether someone like Washington Sundar is even deserving of his place in the side.
And now, just as India are grappling with the series of tensions in England, in comes another dramatic development that is bound to generate further discussion among the public.
But having said that, let us first pause for a moment to take cognisance of just what talent pool is currently serving the Indian men’s senior team. So there is the head coach Gautam Gambhir, who is assisted by coach Ryan ten Doeschate, and then there’s the bowling coach Morne Morkel, along with Sitanshu Kotak and Sairaj Bahutule.
But according to the leading national print daily Times of India, a member who happens to be a prominent presence and part of the current coaching staff with the Team India is to part ways with the side in the imminent future. However, while the development has already hit the social media universe, the very fact associated with what may have prompted the decision- is it dissonance with the current role or the desire to seek a new opportunity- is currently unknown. And there’s confirmation about that, whatsoever, at this point of time!
Having said that, the TOI source has exclaimed the following in regard to the news about the possible departure of a prominent individual currently associated with the Indian team’s coaching staff:
“ This possible move is not due to the team’s poor outings in Ireland and England, but rather something that has been brewing over the past few months. It is learnt that cracks have deepened in the dressing room since the two-Test defeat against South Africa at home, and it is not the happiest place to be at the moment. The disagreements between the selectors and the coaching staff have further complicated matters.”
