English Cricket captain in the T20 World Cup Harry Brook was making no lame jokes out there in the post match presentation ceremony last evening following defeat against the West Indies when he exclaimed that he was glad that the team won the earlier contest against Nepal. So what was he actually referring to and why did he share that insight? Let us try and understand his mindset here, that of an aggrieved cricket captain who may not have enjoyed being on the other side of the result in the contest against the Windies!

The West Indies played phenomenally and imposed a 30 run defeat to be borne by Harry Brook and his English side. In a contest that was fittingly described as thrilling, one that was dearly enjoyed by all at Wankhede, England, it could be said, were spun out given Motie, Chase and Akeal all picked up vital England wickets.

That being said, despite the loss England aren’t at the rock bottom in their C group as yet because their earlier win against Nepal, even if that came by a margin as dainty as 4 runs, has enabled the team to be still in the hunt for the tournament’s furher progress.

It’s hugely expected that now with their second win in as many games, the West Indies will qualify further ahead for the super 8 stage with England still in a fighting chance of making the cut. They have an interesting contest against Scotland in the works.

On the other hand, the Scots, who’ve not been able to win any contest whatsoever having been bettered by the Shai Hope-led West Indies would be keen to make do for their defeats conceded thus far. While Nepal too, would be keeping a cool head over their shoulders. But just imagine the plight that England would have come to face had they not won their campaign opener against Nepal. They barely came through by four runs.
