It’s a classic case of “will it” or “won’t it”? Here’s the perspective, not the standalone statement. Will the English team’s bowling department and collective arsenal with the white ball come to haunt the Indian cricket team at the famed Wankhede ahead of the second semi final clash involving the series’ co-hosts and two time world up winning semi finalists, India?

For starters, make no mistake- England have the quality pace attack involving one of the fastest current bowlers in world cricket- Jofra Archer. Then there’s among the finest leg spinners the game has seen in quite a few decades in the form of Adil Rashid. So can such glowing pace bowling and spin talent join forces to hurt India’s cause - remains the big question ahead of the semi clash in Mumbai.

That said, star former cricketer Virender Sehwag seems to have his answer ready and has said the following- in no uncertain terms:

Former India opener Virender Sehwag believes England’s bowling attack will not pose a major threat to the India national cricket team ahead of their semifinal clash in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. India will face the England national cricket team at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, March 5, with a place in the final at stake. The winner of the contest will go on to meet the New Zealand national cricket team, who have already secured their spot in the title clash.

India’s batting lineup appears to be peaking at the right time. The side produced convincing performances against the Zimbabwe national cricket team and the West Indies cricket team during the Super 8 stage, with several batters showing signs of regaining form heading into the knockout rounds.

England, meanwhile, will rely on a well-rounded bowling attack led by the pace of Jofra Archer and the experience of leg-spinner Adil Rashid.

Archer’s express speed, along with the all-round abilities of Sam Curran and Jamie Overton, has helped England maintain balance in their attack.

The former champions also enjoyed an unbeaten Super 8 campaign in Sri Lanka, largely due to their spin trio of Rashid, Liam Dawson, and Will Jacks.

Despite the strength of England’s bowling unit, Sehwag believes India can take advantage of the attack just like they did in their recent game against the West Indies.

“If we can chase 195 against the West Indies, we can do that against England as well. Their bowling is nothing special as such.”

Sehwag’s comments underline his confidence in India’s batting depth heading into the high-pressure semifinal
