It’s been more than 72 hours that the ill timed and unfortunate on field post match scuffle between India A’s Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Sri Lankan A cricketer Vishen Halambage took place in a contest held at Dambulla. And still; what can be commonly found is that content - whether articles or reels- continue to get made on the regrettable episode. But there are also ex cricketers, observers of the game, who continue to come out with insights on what should not have been in the first place. India’s former cricketer Manoj Tiwary being a latest addition to the list!
Manoj Tiwary was of the view that several countries seem to be apparently more envious of the kind of rise that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has had and the talent that he possesses. Moreover, the former cricketer from Bengal was also of the view that not only Sooryavanshi, but other nations seem to be envious of even the Indian team.
Vaibhav Sooryanashi’s rise, apparently and evidently, has been a rather formidable one and has since been a dominant chapter where the Indian cricket is concerned.
The right handed former batter had been watching the tri series featuring the A sides each from Afghanistan, India and Sri Lanka quite closely and was glued to India’s cricket in the series.
And that’s not all. The experienced cricketer who played tons of first class cricket was also of the view that it is none other than Vaibhav Sooryavanshi who has to decide how the rest of the world views him. Of course, it’s far from ideal for any talented and much talked about young cricketer to have the world discuss his antics and temperament instead of what he is there for- pure batting and for unfurling all of that amazing talent.
Therefore Manoj Tiwary suggested that it is now up to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to decide on whose footsteps must he follow- whether it is to follow the peace and calmness of a Tendulkar or Dravid or walk on Virat Kohli’s footsteps and be aggressive. A choice that the young man must himself make.
The following are his comments-
“Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has to understand a little. There will always be verbal battles against us on the pitch, because there are many countries that are jealous of us. So, they will provoke you. The way Vaibhav Suryavanshi's IPL campaign went, and the way he is moving forward and getting everything, so they will poke him more. The way a 15-year-old is progressing, they are jealous of it. So, we have to prepare him for it," the former batter said on Cricbuzz.
"It is upto him what kind of image he wants to create in the cricketing world. One path is like Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid, who are generally calm people, they answer through performances. The other route is like Virat Kohli, people who are aggressive. Now he needs to decide how people want to perceive him. Anger is important, but it is important to point it in the right direction," he continued.”
