Royal Challengers Bangalore locked horns with the Mumbai Indians in the much-awaited must-win game in match 54 at Raipur. The match was no less than a thriller. Netizens were taken aback by the proceedings of the game as it kept swinging both ways at certain moments. When RCB’s in-form top three, Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal, and Rajat Patidar, fell early within the powerplay, the match looked like it was in the pocket of MI. But with Krunal Pandya’s terrific clutch innings of 73 off 46 brought them back into the game. But as Krunal departed with Tilak Verma’s catch, MI came right back with keeping Romario Shepherd in check. But the drama in the final over came when Raj Bawa gave 4 wides and a no-ball and also took the wicket of Shepherd. But RCB has the last laugh with Bhuvneswar Kumar’s six, taking them to the most important victory after 3 consecutive losses.

Netizens couldn’t believe what they witnessed in an IPL game after a few monotonous games. Some Netizens rejoiced at RCB’s win, appreciating Krunal Pandya’s valiant and gritty efforts to perform even with a cramp. Some just demanded to ‘build a statue of Bhuvneswar Kumar’ in Bangalore just to show gratitude to the legend. Some netizens also mocked Raj Bawa’s game presence in final over and the mishaps.

“He tried his best, " says MI Skipper Surya Kumar Yadav about Raj Bawa

Raj Angad Bawa did everything wrong possible in the last overs when MI was on the verge of winning this game. From 3 wides to one no ball to the lazy approach in the last ball for run out, and that looked like issues with basic cricket. Although the MI skipper post-match seemed to have backed Raj Bawa, expressing that sometimes this happens in a pressure situation, and he is absolutely proud of the bowler. According to him, Raj tried his best, but sometimes situations didn’t favour him. He also added that with this loss, MI would work on it and come back stronger.

" I think he's been practising that really well throughout the season and last year also, and he was a completely different all-rounder when we saw him this year. So, going ahead with him with that one or two overs and also the last over taking that responsibility, almost pulled it off for us. I think we were 10-15 runs short. That's what I felt. Wrong wickets at wrong timings," said the MI skipper

The Mumbai Indians are the second team eliminated now from IPL 2026 after LSG went out earlier this evening after a loss against CSK.
