In the latest WPL update, Gujarat Giants have drafted in pacer Jintimani Kalita as a replacement for injured Titas Sadhu for the remainder of the Women’s Premier League. Pacer Titas Sadhu has been ruled out of the tournament with an injury. She had not played for the Gujarat Giants this season and has featured in seven matches over the last three WPL seasons for Delhi Capitals. She was picked up Gujarat in the auction and the pacer did not recover from her injury.
Titas Sadhu did not play any of the five matches for Gujarat Giants due to ongoing injury issues. She has already represented India in the international circuit and her last appearance for India was in the three-match ODI series in Rajkot more than a year ago. Sadhu had joined the Giants from Delhi Capitals ahead of this WPL season, but the 21-year old could not be available for selection.
Replacing her will be another pacer Jintimani Kalita, who arrives at the Gujarat camp from Mumbai Indians, for whom she has played 13 matches. The 22 year old will provide good value with the ball and is a handy batter. But Titas Sadhu will be a big blow as she has represented India in eight ODIs and 12 T20Is.
Gujarat Giants are bottom of the table with just two wins in five matches. After winning their opening two games they have lost their last three matches. The Ash Gardner led side will be keen to bounce back and the upcoming matches are very crucial for them.
