We are in the tenth edition of the T20 World Cup and there have been plenty of batting masterclass in each of those. India are taking on New Zealand in the Final of the WT20 and two batters in Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan have already got more than 300 runs in this season. But who are the players with most runs in a single edition across different editions. In this article we take a look at the top 5 players with most runs in a single edition of the T20 World Cup.

Sahibzada Farhan has scored the most runs in a single edition of the T20 World Cup as the Pakistan batter has amassed 383 runs which came in the 2026 WT20. Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan both fall in the second and third of the list. Interestingly three out of the top 4 players with most runs in a single edition have come in the 2026 WT20 which shows how high scoring this World Cup has been.

Virat Kohli with 319 runs in the 2014 edition held the record for most runs in an edition since 2014 but three batters have overtaken him in the 2026 WT20. The fifth in the list is Tilakaratne Dilshan who has scored 317 runs in 2009 edition of the WT20. Apart from these Babar Azam with 303 runs in 2021 WT20 and Mahela Jayawardena with 302 runs in 2010 are the others in the list.

This 2026 WT20 has broken plenty of records with the bat and it is very rare that the top three run getters in this edition of the WT20 are also the top three in the history of T20 World Cup. Samson and Kishan were brutal in the final match against New Zealand as they broke multiple records.
