The league stage of the IPL 2026 season is coming to a close and we have seen some terrific performances from the players. Youngsters like Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Abhishek Sharma seem to be in the mood to conquer the stage at such a young stage. However, the veterans don’t intend to give up the stage that easily as they have made some solid statements with their consistent performances throughout the season. It would be more appropriate to call them as timeless legends as we have seen their consistency for more than a decade and this still are delivering.

Veterans like Bhuvneshwar Kumar have left the international stage a long time ago but he has announced his comeback by leading the purple cap leaderboard. Virat Kohli has been yet another player to whom consistency is more of a synonym to his name. All these players are proving that they still have some firepower left in them and that they are here to stay.

Top 5 veteran performers of IPL 2026

Here are the top 5 performing veterans of the IPL:

5)Mohammed Shami

The Indian pacer hasn’t been picked by India in the white-ball format over the past couple of series stating reasons over his fitness but he has proved them wrong in IPL 2026. Despite LSG’s poor run of form, he has been exceptionally good with the new ball and has delivered some impactful performances. Mohammed Shami has picked up 10 wickets from 12 games and his economy rate is at 8. In the modern T20 approach, these figures are really consistent and he has been one of the best bowlers for LSG in this season.

4)David Miller

The South African veteran is a proven reliable middle-order batter and he has been a fine player in the IPL. Many people questioned the impact of David Miller in the middle order for the Delhi Capitals but Miller has answered the critics in style. He helped the Capitals get across the line against RCB at Chinnaswamy with some fine power-hitting against Romario Shepherd in the last over. David Miller has scored 183 runs from 9 innings and he has led the Capitals with some match-winning knocks.

3)Sunil Narine

The Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder has been their most impactful player for more than a decade and the experience he brings into the side is unmatched. Even at this age, he still creates an inhibition among the batters and he is able to find the required breakthroughs. Sunil Narine has picked up 14 wickets from 12 innings and his economy is just a touch above 6. His lasting impact with the ball has been crucial to the resurgence of KKR in this season.

2)Virat Kohli

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru opener doesn’t need any second invitation to pounce on opportunities and he has once again been the best batter for the side in this campaign. He brought up his 9th IPL century against the KKR and his form has been nothing short of exciting. Virat Kohli is still competing for the Orange Cap with 542 runs from 13 innings at a strike rate of 164. He has led the side to some solid victories with some great knocks throughout the season.

1)Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Prior to the IPL 2025 auction, Dinesh Karthik made an interesting claim stating that he is the best T20 bowler in India and it was questioned by many experts. The trust that the RCB management has shown in the veteran has paid dividends as he holds the Purple Cap at the moment. The RCB speedster has picked up 24 wickets from 13 matches at an economy rate of 7. Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s ability to generate movement with the new ball and topple the stumps of batters is simply sensational.
