Team India had a poor start to their batting innings in the 1st T20I match against South Africa in Cuttack. Shubman Gill was dismissed for four in just his second ball which made for a lot of twitter discussions as fans were critical of his performance in this format. Suryakumar Yadav who averages less than 20 in this format in 2025 once again was dismissed for just 12. Tilak Varma struggled and was sluggish throughout the innings. Let us look at some of the twitter reactions to India’s batting performance against South Africa.

Team India all-rounder Axar Patel endured a failure outing with the bat after being sent out at No.5 in the first T20I against South Africa at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Tuesday, December 9. The southpaw scored 23 runs off 21 deliveries, and largely struggled through his innings as the Men in Blue tried to recover from an early collapse

After India were put into bat first, they had a very bad powerplay as Abhishek Sharma (17), Shubman Gill (4) and Suryakumar Yadav (12) all fell inside seven overs as Lungi Ngidi (3/31) exploited the conditions superbly with clever variations. He removed Gill early as the batter chipped to Jansen at mid-off, and later had skipper Suryakumar holding out to Aiden Markram. Gill and Suryakumar took most of the strike in the powerplay, as Abhishek faced only nine balls in the first six overs. The left-hander tried to force the pace immediately after the field restrictions lifted, but fell to Sipamla

Team India were placed at 104-5 after 14 overs and were staring at a mediocre score. However, the boost provided by Hardik Pandya helped them reach 175 at the end of the innings. It became an above par score after such a flourish from Hardik Pandya who scored a half century.
