Notably, the USA gave a great fight to one of the strongest teams in this World Cup, India, in the first game, but faced a loss at the end by 29 runs. Now the USA will face Pakistan, the Netherlands, and Namibia in the group stage games.

President Donald Trump wishes the USA cricket team well playing in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 in India. On Truth Social, he wrote, “I just heard the Cricket World Cup is underway in India! I wish the best of luck to TEAM USA! We have a very strong team. America is rooting for you!”

The USA is playing the T20 World Cup for the second time. They debuted in the World Cup in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which happened in the USA and the West Indies, and notably, they also defeated the Test-playing nation Pakistan in the 2024 edition.
Monank Patel is leading the USA team in this World Cup. The team is placed in Group A in the Group Stage along with India, Pakistan, the Netherlands, and Namibia.
In their first game, the USA lost to India by 29 runs. However, the team has been amazing with the ball, but India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav denied any chances of the upset.
The USA put India under immense pressure by taking their 6 wickets for under 80 runs. Shadley van Schalkwyk took 4 wickets by giving just 25 runs in his 4 hours. But in the end, Suryakumar Yadav showcased his class with an unbeaten 84 runs off 49 balls and helped India to put up a total of 161 at Wankhede Stadium. In batting, India's bowlers dominated the USA batters from the very start and eventually won the game by 29 runs.
Now the USA will face Pakistan on 10 February, the Netherlands on 13 February in Chennai, and Namibia at the same venue on 15 February 2026.
