The Rajasthan Royals opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi had opened up on his intent in every match and the conversations he has with his father. He has been a very successful batter for the Royals this season and the success of the team is reliant on him as well. He scored a fabulous century against the Sunrisers Hyderabad and he showed his levels once again in the IPL. Sooryavanshi will take on the Punjab Kings today and he will be hopeful of getting a big score against the table toppers.

There's no specific benchmark. If I'm at the crease - whether after scoring 100 or just 10 - the longer I stay, the more it benefits the team. I could add another 10 runs, so there's always a bit of regret that I couldn't continue longer. (talking to his father) Yes, we definitely talk after matches. But before a game, he doesn't say much - he just asks how practice is going. The rest of the conversation usually happens after the match,” said Vaibhav Sooryavanshi before the match.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi leads batting charge as Royals eye upset against unbeaten Punjab Kings

“Nothing much, just a normal plan. We decided to assess the pitch first and then carry the game forward according to how it behaves. (facing Arshdeep) No, I've already played against him before. Like I said, it depends on the pitch. If it's helpful for batters, we'll play in that mode. But if there's something in it for the bowlers, we'll look to start a bit cautiously,” added Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is amongst the leading run-scorers this season and he has been a consistent top order batter for the Royals. The 15-year old has caused trouble for even the greatest bowler of this generation, Jasprit Bumrah. It was a highly anticipated matchup and he scored six off the very first ball. Another interesting battle was against Josh Hazlewood, but the tall pacer didn't know how to contain the pressure he was being put under by Sooryavanshi. He has also scored three 15-ball half-centuries and he is proving to be an unstoppable force. Sooryavanshi also became the youngest player to reach 1,000 runs in T20 cricket.

The most impressive knock of the season came against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the previous game as he scored a record-breaking century off just 36 balls. During this innings, he smashed 12 sixes and that became the record for the most sixes hit by an Indian in an IPL innings. Sooryavanshi is also maintaining a strike-rate of 234.87 in the season, which is the highest among the top run-scorers of the season.

The Rajasthan Royals will be hoping that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi can score another top innings against the Punjab Kings. The batting order will be heavily reliant on him and if he could get a good score, the Rajasthan Royals could very well be in the game. They will be hoping to end the unbeaten run of the Punjab Kings in this season of the IPL.
