India batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was hit by a ball during his training session ahead of the third England T20I. The Men in Blue, who are trailing the five-game series 0-1, are set to appear against the Harry Brook-led side in the third of the five-game series on July 7, in Nottingham. Ahead of the clash, the Men in Blue were seen grinding it hard in nets, aiming to level the series on Tuesday. Among other players was Sooryavanshi, the youngest ever cricketer to play for the Indian side in the men’s cricket.
However, a concerning video has surfaced from the training session, where the 15-year-old got hit by a ball in the abdomen. In a video posted by journalist Rohit Juglan, Sooryvanshi was seen getting a painful blow as he missed hitting the ball. For a moment, he sat down on the ground in pain, but the youngster didn’t take much time to get back on his feet and resume his batting practice. Though it was a small incident, the video was enough to show the real character of the young lad who could be the next big thing in Indian cricket.
Could Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s appearance in third T20I be in jeopardy?
While it initially looked like a serious hit, Sooryavanshi resuming his practice session assured fans that a big injury had been prevented. This means that Sooryavanshi is perfectly fit and is ready to step into the ground at Nottingham on Tuesday. It is to be noted that during his first international game on Sunday, the batter scored 14 runs, contrary to the expectations countrymen had with him. However, he put up his explosive hitting skills on display by hitting his Rajasthan Royals teammate Jofra Archer off a six on the very first ball.
In another development, he has been named in India’s squad for the upcoming Zimbabwe T20I series. Here’s how the BCCI’s 15-member squad looks like for the forthcoming tour kicking off on July 23.
Shreyas Iyer (Captain), Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma (Vice-Captain), Ishan Kishan (WK), Shivam Dube, Suryansh Shedge, Rinku Singh, Harsh Dubey, Varun Chakaravarathy, Prince Yadav, Yash Thakur, Ashok Sharma, Mayank Yadav, Prabhsimran Singh (WK).
