The Rajasthan Royals opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has brought up his 6th half-century of the season and this time it has come against the Gujarat Titans. Sooryavanshi has seen his partners walking in and out of the crease, but he has stood his ground firmly. This has been probably the most important knock he has played in his career for the Royals. At a time, where none of the batters were able to find the middle of the bat, Sooryavanshi has stepped up for the Royals once again in the TATA IPL Playoffs. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi battled through the tough times as he brought up his fifty off just 31 balls but from then, he began to accelerate and turned on his natural game.

The opening partnership between Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal has been arguably the best in this edition of the IPL, but today, they didn’t quite click off. Jaiswal was dismissed in the second ball of his innings and that wicket followed with the dismissal of Dhruv Jurel as well. Sooryavanshi might have felt a bit more responsible in this game as with the wickets falling, he wouldn’t have wanted to throw away his wicket as well. Sooryaanshi has shown maturity in his batting and this could be one of his crucial knocks for the side. His late blitz of scoring 46 runs from his last 16 balls has put the Rajasthan Royals in a good position here.

Sooryavanshi’s rescue act saves RR batting unit against GT

It was probably the most bizarre toss of this year’s IPL as the coin was flipped twice, stating Riyan Parag’s call wasn’t heard by the umpire. However, it did not matter a lot as he himself won the toss both the times and he chose to bat first. The decision to bat first hasn’t entirely gone in the favour of the Royals as the Titans have been clinical with the execution of their plans. Their batting unit has once again shown its pure reliance on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and this has been one of their biggest weaknesses of the season.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi seemed to be quite clear with his plan but his rhythm was disrupted early on by Mohammed Siraj. In the previous game against GT, he did struggle against Siraj with the short ball and that was exactly the plan the pacer had in mind. Sooryavanshi wasn’t able to really find the timing he would have wanted and he adjusted with just the boundaries. This was his slowest fifty in the IPL off 31 balls but he just flicked the switch ever since. Sooryavanshi has begun to unleash his wrath on the GT bowling unit by bringing and the Royals will be cheering him on. Unfortunately, Sooryavanshi fell short of his century by just 4 runs and he was dismissed for 96 off just 47 balls, including 8 fours and 7 sixes at a strike rate of 204.26.
