After the completion of a truly mesmerising, emphatic and definitive knock, which not only helped Rajasthan Royals defeat SRH and throw them out of the tournament, but perhaps knocked on the doors of Gujarat Titans in what lies ahead- the left handed Vaibhav Suryavanshi had some interesting things to say, as far as his batting is concerned and also alluded to his own headspace. And the following is what he happened to share and in so doing; offering a glimpse of the way he goes on about constructing his knock whilst thrashing the bowlers out there-
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi said "If I feel I am having trouble somewhere, I work on that. I don’t think about what the opposition is planning, that’s their plan. I focus on what my plan is & I just try to play normal cricket".
No, all of this is seminal to understanding the way, and the approach that Vaibhav Suryavanshi takes as he goes about his batting. How is that? It could be argued that the young 15 year old has a fairly simple and uncomplicated approach where it comes to taking the bowlers down. And he does take the bowlers down, which was also a case of fresh warning served to SRH during his yesterday’s knock of 97.
Sooryavanshi himself says that if something is not working right, then he simply addresses it and he does not worry too much about what the opposition may throw at him. He simply goes on about his Cricket as a normal thing, and we’ve seen that he enjoys his batting the way he does hitting sixes and force of fun often on the very first delivery that he faces in his innings.
He has already hit a century in the IPL. He hit a century this very season. He made his debut in the IPL at the age of 13 and by the age of 15, holds the record in the IPL for scoring the fastest 500 runs ever. And now thanks to his destructive knock, RR rode a juggernaut to reach the next eliminator contest.
With so much that he has already accomplished in such a remarkably short period of time, it can only be thought and imagined as to what the left handed batter may go on to achieve in what lies ahead. For now, he must celebrate and soak in the brilliance of that mesmerising 97, perhaps in that SRH did not think would happen in the way that it merciless and brutal in its execution. And while you feel sorry for Hyderabad, you can’t help but admire Vaibhav Suryavanshi over and over again akin to legendary Cricketers- Andre Russell Chris Gayle of the West Indies, who are going about the youngster.
It was a innings to remember and one that will be remembered for a long long time and might hold central importance to where Rajasthan end up eventually this season and hey, they could actually end up winning the IPL 2026, and just who would mind that?
