The fans have been utterly disappointed with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi being benched in the first game of the Ireland series and they have been critical regarding the decision. The youngster was in superb form in the IPL and in the final of the Tri-series against Sri Lanka A. He accumulated 776 runs in the IPL season for the Rajasthan Royals and he scored a sensational knock of 94 off just 29 balls against Sri Lanka A in the Tri-Series Finals.
Michael Vaughan has claimed that he is the best T20I batter in the world and that he doesn’t deserve to be dropped. The fans have been waiting eagerly to see the 15-year-old in action and to see him on the bench would be devastating for the Indian fans.
However, not everyone has been on the same page as the fans believe that to get into a champion side like India, Sooryavanshi would have to remain patient. It is almost impossible to replace Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson in the top order with the kind of form they have been in.
Sanjay Manjrekar has backed the Indian side for their decision and some of the fans have also taken his side. With still a game to go in the series, one of the star batters could be rested for the second game and we could finally see Vaibhav Sooryavanshi making his international debut for the side.
Fans divided over India's decision to bench Sooryavanshi
The fans on X have been critical and supportive over the decision made by the Indian management and some of the experts have had their say as well. It will be interesting to see Vaibhav Sooryavanshi get the nod ahead of either Abhishek Sharma or Sanju Samson in the second game of the series. Here are some of the reactions on X:
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will also be eager to get his first cap for the Indian side and it could be a dream moment for the teenager. India could play Sooryavanshi ahead of any of the batters in the side to just give the Rajasthan Royals star batter a taste of senior international cricket.
