The Kolkata Knight Riders got their first victory of the season against the Rajasthan Royals and that was indeed a special feeling. Varun Chakravarthy said that the dressing room was quite emotionally struck as they were distraught with themselves in the previous games. They were winless for 6 games and they didn’t understand what was going wrong and yesterday Rinku Singh took his side across the line.
“I could see many tears in the dressing room after our 1st win this season, we didn’t see that many tears even when we won the trophy in 2024, “ said Varun Chakravarthy. The IPL is a long tournament and you cannot count any team out as teams have made a comeback from similar positions. KKR would be hoping to make a late entry into the playoffs like RCB did in 2024.

Rinku Singh’s heroics spark relief after breakthrough victory against Rajasthan Royals
The Rajasthan Royals were the obvious favourites going into the match as they have been an in-form team despite the loss against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. They had won 4 matches in a row and the form of their players was excellent. The Kolkata Knight Riders on the other hand, were just searching for something to work with. They had tried different combinations, different players and nothing just seemed to be working out for the side. Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi did start on a high but they have lost their way in the middle. The team’s morale didn’t look good with so many losses on the trot.
However, the Kolkata Knight Riders were all set to write a different script against the Rajasthan Royals. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal kicked off proceedings with some splendid boundary hitting in the powerplay. But after Varun Chakravarthy got the better off Sooryavanshi, it seemed like the KKR bowlers grew large on the batters. The wickets just kept on falling as Chakravarthy, Kartik Tyagi and Sunil Narine were on top of their game. In the chase, it once again looked like KKR were gonna end up on the losing side, but was revived by Anukul Roy and Rinku Singh. KKR won the match by 4 wickets and got to their first win of the season.
Things are looking bright for KKR but there does still exist some areas of concern regarding their openers and the form of the batters. The bowling area doesn’t need any major adjustments and they would be boosted by the arrival of Matheesha Pathirana as well. KKR will be hopeful that their nightmare has ended and that they are on the verge of a new beautiful dawn setting upon them.
