After the recently concluded ODI series against South Africa, former India great Ravichandran Ashwin opened up on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli on his YouTube channel. He said, that if Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have to prove their abilities, it's laughable. This statement came after a lot of questions around whether they should be a part of India's ODI setup for 2027 World Cup or not. There were reports that there will be a special meeting after the ODI series on the future of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. 

However, in the last two series against Australia and South Africa, both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been able to show their class, eventually resulting with man of the series in Australia and South Africa series. Against Proteas, Virat Kohli smashed two hundreds and a half century, while Rohit Sharma smashed two quick fire half centuires two show their class at this level. 

On Ravichandran Ashwin's YouTube channel, he said, "The fact that Rohit has worked on his fitness and come back, so props to him. The fact that Virat is batting as well as he is also shows the kind of work both of them have put in. The fact that both of them have to prove is itself a laughable thing. What do they need to prove? Obviously, it is all messaging. In such long careers, we all have ups and downs," Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.

So these things will keep happening. But they don't have to prove anything to anyone. It is actually an example for all the next generation of players coming through, showing that you need to make sacrifices and demonstrate commitment to the game if you want to have such lengthy careers. The game is bigger than anyone else," he concluded.
