Virat Kohli continued his dominance in the One Day Format but missed out on a century. In the opening match of the ODI series against New Zealand, Virat Kohli scored his 93 runs of 91 balls which included eight fours and a six. The crowd were shocked as Virat Kohli chipped the ball to mid off where Bracewell took a fine catch of the bowling of Jamieson. This would have need 54th ODI century for Virat Kohli had he got there.

India batting stalwart Virat Kohli on Sunday became the fastest player to reach 28,000 runs across formats in international cricket and the second most prolific scorer behind Sachin Tendulkar during the first ODI against New Zealand here.

Playing in his 624th innings, Kohli got to the milestone by hitting a four off New Zealand leg-spinner Adithya Ashok. Tendulkar had reached the landmark during his 644th innings, while Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara, only the third player in the 28000-run club, crossed the feat in his 666th innings.

Chasing a target of 301, India are in cruising position mainly due to a terrific knock by Virat Kohli. He was disappointed as he missed out on another century but fans were treated to some spectacular batting from the legend.

Virat Kohli surpassed Sachin Tendulkar to become the fastest player to reach 28,000 international runs. He got there in 624th innings – 20 less than that of Tendulkar.
