Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Virat Kohli pulled off a diving catch to put an end to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s knock in the RR vs RCB clash. The Royals recorded a six-wicket win over the defending champions on Friday, April 10. This marked the fourth straight win for the Royals in the ongoing tournament. The game saw RR’s youngest batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi impressing everyone with another stellar knock. The young lad came up with 78 crucial runs off just 28 balls to push the side beyond the other side of the victory line.

However, he missed out on his well-deserved century when former RCB skipper Virat Kohli caught him out. On the first ball of the ninth over delivered by Krunal Pandya, Kohli took a low catch towards the long-on to send the Sooryavanshi back to the pavilion. But what caught everyone’s attention was the celebration of Kohli, who kept it low-key unlike the regular celebrations he pulls off.

My journey has just started - Vaibhav Sooryavanshi after RR record fourth straight win

After being awarded the Player of the Match Award for his stunning knock, Sooryavanshi reflected back on his knock and said that his journey has just started. He said, “All these people keep telling me that the journey is very long, this has just started, so you have to focus on your process and your work, you have to focus on the game without looking here and there.”

He added, “If I stay on the wicket, then another 10-20 runs can be made, if we are chasing the target, then we can finish it two overs earlier, or if we set the target, then 10-20 runs can be made more. So I regret that if I am out by playing a loose shot, then the team is going minus, so I just get a little upset that I could have played longer.”

The Royals will now be up against the SRH on April 13, 2026 at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad.
