Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Virat Kohli ignored SunRisers Hyderabad batter Travis Head during post-game customary handshakes. The Royal Challengers were up against the Hyderabad-based franchise in a crucial match that would have decided the top-two fate for both the teams. The game on Friday, May 22, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium saw the Pat Cummins-led side record a blowout 55-run win over their counterparts. While the SRH batters gave the side a flying start and posted a mammoth total of 255 with the loss of four wickets, a post-game moment involving RCB legend Virat Kohli went viral.
As the players of both teams were involved in post-match customary handshakes, the RCB star was seen ignoring SRH’s Travis Head. Kohli, though, went on to shake hands with Pat Cummins, Abhishek Sharma and the rest of the players. While Head offered to shake hands, Kohli ended up ignoring him completely, leaving the Aussie surprised for a second. However, following a brief pause, even Head moved ahead and went on to shake hands with the rest of the RCB players.
The reason behind Kohli ignoring Head was their on-field altercation that took place earlier during the game. During the second-innings, Kohli was seen gesturing toward Head, who was fielding at mid-wicket, seemingly asking him to come to bowl. While he wasn’t exactly heard, the commentators interpreted his gestures as him telling Head, “Come, bowl some off-spin.

RCB to maintain top spot in standings, set to clash against GT in Q1
Despite the 55-run loss, the Royal Challengers have solidified their position on the top of the standings. The defending champions, along with GT, and SRH have 18 points from nine wins. However, the difference in their net run rating has booked them the spots. The recently-concluded match was the fight for a top-two spot but considering the SunRisers couldn’t secure the win with a bigger margin, they would now be required to adjust with the third spot.
The Rajat Patidar-led side will lock horns with the number two spotted, Gujarat Titans, in the Qualifier 1 on May 26, at HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.
