It is a known fact that a cricketer’s teammates tend to know a lot about a particular talent than the outside world. That is because they have the window to the personality and the closest possible proximity to the cricketer- in terms of what ticks his mood, what ticks him off and those sorts of things- than certainly the opponents and most certainly, those watching a contest in live attendance.

Which is why the following is also true-

It’s often said that the truest measure of a cricketer isn’t just in how they perform under lights—but how they are when the lights dim.

And in that sense, Ishan Kishan may have just offered one of the most telling insights into Virat Kohli.

At a lively fan-facing event, filled with laughter and quickfire questions, Kishan was asked a cheeky but revealing one: “Which player sledges the most on the field?” The answer barely needed thinking.

“Kohli,” he said—almost instinctively—prompting an immediate roar from the crowd, who seemed just as certain.

It’s an image the cricketing world knows well: Virat Kohli, eyes locked in, energy crackling, never shying away from a verbal duel.

On the field, he thrives in confrontation, feeding off intensity, turning pressure into fuel.

But what followed was far more interesting.

In the same breath, Kishan added a layer that doesn’t always make the highlight reels: “He’s totally opposite of what you see on the ground. He’s very calm outside.”
