
The 2026 edition of the Indian Premier League is now just a few days away and the preparations across franchises are in full swing. The high-octane tournament is scheduled to begin on March 28 in Begaluru. The first match of the IPL 2026 season will be played between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings. The runners up of the last season, Punjab Kings, will be playing their first match on day 2 against 2022-year champions Gujarat Titans in Mullanpur. A few franchises have already started their preparations.
Punjab Kings organised a camp in Abu Dhabi, while Rajasthan Royals is training hard in Nagpur, Gujarat Titans in Udaipur, and now Chennai Super Kings training in Chennai. Along with these franchises, the two legends of the game - Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have also started their respective training ahead of the season. Virat Kohli, who generally doesn't post his training session and expresses his excitement, posted on Instagram ahead of the IPL season showing his preparations ahead of the season.

In 2025 season, Royal Challengers Bangalore won their first title after beating Punjab Kings in the final of IPL at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Virat Kohli's 18 year wait for the IPL trophy ended with it. Interestingly, Virat Kohli is one of those players who has won T20 World Cup, ODI World Cup, Champions Trophy and the IPL. He is undoubtedly one of the best player the sport has ever produced. It will be interesting to see how Virat Kohli plays in the shortest format of the game after retiring from it a couple of years ago.
