The action in the 2026 edition of the Caribbean Premier League is intensely hotting up right now. It’s just game 12 that we’ve had in a series that features 39 games, in all but thanks to destructive batting displays, foxy bowling spells and agile fielding instances, the Caribbean Premier League is coming into its own in the beating heart of the West Indies and just at a time where it being felt that the current edition of the CPL wasn’t perhaps as exciting (as the ones held earlier).

And guess what? The most recent contest between the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons and St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots proved to be an absolute belter, serving a firm reminder as to why the shortest format of the game is such a hit in the Caribbean.

The contest was won in the end by the dominant Antigua and Barbuda Falcons side, one of the youngest and newest sides in the entire CPL firmament, but the man with the major headlining act wasn’t a West Indian. It was Sri Lankan talent Wanindu Hasaranga!

So how was that? After scoring a vital six in his unbeaten known of 7 off 3 as St Kitts and Nevis Patriots helped themselves to a score of 187, the Sri Lankan cricketer continued to be at his best in the field in the second innings.

He took the big and difficult catch of Shadab Khan who’s powerful knock of 30 was already proving to be dangerous for St Kitts and Nevis team to defend. Running several yards and attempting to take a skier, Wanindu Hasaranga succeeded in the end as Shadab Khan aired a “hit me delivery” by the experienced Jason Holder to complete a marauding and brilliant fielding effort.

However, with the ball, he would only take an over that resulted in 15 runs.

Nevertheless, his sensational grab in the field was perhaps the headlining act of a team that went down fighting.
