Popular. Dangerous. Widely regarded. But not just with the cricket bat; now even with the ball! For quite some time now, he’s been the destructive figure with the bat holding the willow. He’s trundled fielders with aching muscles and bones and dislodged the best of bowlers to all parks of the ground coming into his own from up top the order. And now, it seems, Abhishek Sharma is a handy opponent wielding the white ball, as well, something evident in the recently concluded practice match that was held against the Proteas. Abhishek Sharma, for all intents and purposes, is a complete cricketer. As that is currently evident. But how so, let’s delve into a bit more detail:

Bowling a brilliant delivery that turned pretty much and bounced nicely, Abhishek Sharma completely bamboozled Marco Jansen, who seemed well set. The stumps were disturbed and the lanky right hander who, without much doubt can pack a big punch, failed to get into the line of the delivery. Not only was Ishan Kishan elated from behind the stumps; but ditto for Abhishek, the spinner!

With two important wickets and that too, in a winning cause for his Indian team, the Proteas were left stumped and the hosts couldn’t have possibly begun on a better note.

What do you reckon?

Having said that, Abhishek Sharma’s batting exploits will hopefully certainly star for his country as the big headlining act in the T20 World Cup.

The left hander’s brilliant knocks such as the 80 that just came off 35 deliveries against the usually composed Kiwis helped India get off on a winning note in the recent series. But throughout the series, the top order batter from Punjab kept pounding the much needed runs for India getting his team off to fliers.

If he can, in fact, contribute to the team’s cause in the spin department, it would be absolutely wonderful- won’t it?
