
Daryl Mitchell continued his sublime touch once again as he scored a terrific century in the third match of the ODI series. Daryl Mitchell has proved to be a versatile player and has a great record in ODI where he is ranked 2nd in the ICC rankings, just behind Virat Kohli. He has an average of more than 55 in the format and he just keeps getting better. Mitchell scored his century of 106 balls and brought up his milestone with a single off the bowling of Ravindra Jadeja.

This was the ninth ODI century for Mitchell and he is still going strong. In the last game, Mitchell also became the fourth fastest in the world to reach the milestone of 2500 runs as he did it in just 58 innings. Now after this knock he nears the quickest to 3000 runs as list is led by Amla but Daryl Mitchell happens to be the fastest to the mark from New Zealand. Going past 2500 he broke the record of Kane Williamson who achieved this in 63 innings.
Mitchell continued his form in third IND vs NZ ODI in Rajkot, he slammed a century after he scored 84 in Vadodara in the opening match and another century in the second match at Rajkot. In fact, he has scored more than half century in six of his last seven innings and all have been excellent. In the previous series vs West Indies he scored 119 and against England scored 44, 56, and 78. He has been a backbone for New Zealand in the middle order. Mitchell also has an excellent record against the Indian team against whom he averages over 60. In 12 matches he has more than 550 runs to his name, including three centuries as well. To add to that, he is chasing Virat Kohli, to be the World No. 1 batter now in ODI’s, with only one point separating the two. After this innings it is certain that Mitchell is set to surpass Kohli.
The ICC rankings are updated every week on Wednesday and this is the final One Day match for both these players till June. Kohli and Mitchell will be fighting for the top spot. Daryl Mitchell entertained the crowd with a terrific century and put New Zealand in top position after they had lost a couple of wickets early.
