During the 1st innings of the match between the Lucknow Super Giants and the Gujarat Titans, Glenn Philips almost pulled off a screamer to dismiss Aiden Markram. The attempt came in the 7th over of the game, when Aiden Markram hit the ball straight up in the air, and Glenn Phillips almost caught the ball. Glenn Phillips was once again caught flying, and this time the ball fumbled from his hand when his elbow hit the ground.

There have already been some spectacular catches in this edition of the IPL, with Phil Salt pulling off a stunner to dismiss Ishan Kishan against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Kiwi all-rounder has almost normalised his fielding efforts, as even if there is a slight chance, Glenn Phillips attempts.

Flying Phillips dazzles in the field as Titans dominate LSG with clinical bowling performance

The Gujarat Titans had elected to bowl first in the game as they were more comfortable chasing the total down. They faced some pressure early on in the innings as Mitchell Marsh scored some early boundaries, but Kagiso Rabada bounced back to dismiss Marsh. Mohammed Siraj had a wonderful opening spell as he regained his bowling rhythm. There was a match-up between the LSG skipper and SIraj in which the bowler emerged victorious.

The Gujarat Titans were very dominant with the ball as they didn’t allow any of the blooming partnerships to prosper. Prasidh Krishna was exceptionally good with the ball as he picked up 4 wickets and gave away just 28 runs in his bowling spell. The Titans did a brilliant job in the 1st innings to limit the Lucknow Supergiants to just 164 runs in the 20 overs.

The effort from Glenn Philips came in the 7th over when Prasidh Krishna was bowling to Aiden Markram. Prasidh bowled the ball towards the leg side, and Markram simply flicked it off his pads in style. The ball was travelling quickly in the air, and Glenn Phillips covered all the ground to reach the ball. He held the ball in his hands as well, but as he fell, both his elbows collided into the ground, and due to that impact, the ball fumbled out of his hands. Glenn Philips’ efforts were appreciated by the commentators as they claimed that “If anyone could, then Phillips could! ”

The Gujarat Titans will be pleased with their bowling efforts as they were able to hold off the Lucknow Supergiants from scoring a massive total. With the kind of batting the Gujarat Titans have, this should be a comfortable chase for them.
