Lucknow Super Giants batter Nicholas Pooran missed an easy catch during the clash against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2026. The catch ended up making all the difference, eventually leading to the Titans’ victory and Lucknow’s second straight loss. The Super Giants were up against the Titans in the 19th game of the season at home, Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Batting first, the hosts put up a modest total of 164 runs at the loss of eight wickets.
In return, the visitors got off to an unfavorable start, and the Super Giants got their first success in the form of Sai Sudharshan. However, half-centuries by Shubman Gill and Joss Buttler powered the 2021 champions near the victory line. Towards the end, Washington Sundar and Rahul Tewatia’s unbeaten knocks of 21 and 10, respectively guided the side to their second win.
During the chase, Pooran missed an easy catch, which ended up making all the difference. On the second ball of the 17th over, by Aiden Markram, Pooran ran off to his right and took a right-hand dive to catch the ball hit by Washington Sundar. While he had almost gotten the hold of the ball, it stretched away and ended up hitting the boundary line for a four.

Nicholas Pooran fails to deliver in fourth consecutive game
Nicholas Pooran, who was retained by LSG for INR 21 crore, once again failed to deliver in the IPL 2026. As of now, he has managed to hit only 41 runs for the Lucknow-based franchise at a strike rate of 85.41. Overall, he has pulled off only 153 runs in the T20 format this year in 11 innings at an average of 13.90 and strike rate of 113.5. In Sunday’s game, he hit 19 runs off 21 balls.
However, in his short innings on Sunday, the Trinidian managed to achieve a feat for his franchise. Pooran surpassed KL Rahul to grab the top spot in the list of batters with most runs for the Sanjiv Goenka-owned franchise.
