India faced England in Semi-Final 2 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, with the stakes at their highest. After England captain Harry Brook won the toss and elected to bowl first, India were tested early with the dismissal of Abhishek Sharma for 9 off 7 balls. However, the middle order ensured that the early setback did not derail the innings.
Sanju Samson once again stood tall under pressure, producing a magnificent 89 that anchored India’s innings beautifully. His knock was filled with confidence, calculated aggression, and smart strike rotation, helping India regain control after the early wicket. He stitched together crucial partnerships and shifted the momentum firmly in India’s favour.
Alongside him, Ishan Kishan provided stability and intent, keeping the scoreboard ticking and ensuring England’s bowlers were constantly under pressure. But one of the key tactical moves from the Indian camp was promoting Shivam Dube up the order to maintain the left-right combination.
Dube made an immediate impact.

The all-rounder played a powerful knock of 43 runs off just 25 deliveries, striking at an impressive 172. He smashed one boundary and four towering sixes, taking on both pace and spin with authority. His innings included just six dot balls, reflecting his positive intent and ability to keep the pressure on the opposition. At a crucial stage of the semi-final, Dube’s aggressive approach helped India accelerate and push towards a formidable total.
However, his innings ended in unfortunate fashion. Dube was run out at the non-striker’s end in what turned out to be a moment of brilliance from Brook. With just one stump to aim at, the England captain fired in a direct hit without hesitation, catching Dube short of his crease. It was a sharp piece of fielding that shifted momentum briefly, even though Dube had already done significant damage.
While he would have loved to convert his start into a bigger score, Dube’s impactful 43 ensured India maintained their dominance in this high-pressure knockout clash.
