Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) were restricted to a modest total of 146/7 in their 20 overs, thanks to disciplined and impactful bowling performances led by Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rasikh Salam Dar. On a surface that offered something for the bowlers, both pacers made full use of the conditions, ensuring that LSG never really got the momentum they needed to post a competitive total.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar once again proved why he remains one of the most reliable bowlers in the shortest format. Finishing with impressive figures of 3/27 in his four overs, he set the tone early and kept things tight throughout his spell. His ability to swing the ball and maintain pinpoint accuracy made life difficult for the LSG batters, who struggled to find boundaries against him. Bhuvneshwar’s variations, especially in the death overs, ensured that LSG couldn’t accelerate when it mattered the most.
One of the standout moments of the innings came during Bhuvneshwar’s spell when he dismissed Rishabh Pant, courtesy of an outstanding catch by Phil Salt. Pant, known for his aggressive stroke play, looked to take on the bowler but ended up mistiming his shot. Phil Salt, showing incredible awareness and athleticism, pulled off a sensational catch that left everyone in awe. It was a crucial breakthrough, as Pant’s wicket halted any hopes of LSG building a late surge.

While Bhuvneshwar controlled one end, Rasikh Salam Dar emerged as the wrecker-in-chief from the other. The young pacer delivered a match-defining spell, picking up 4 wickets for just 24 runs in his four overs. Rasikh’s ability to hit hard lengths and extract bounce proved extremely effective, as he consistently troubled the LSG batters. His spell included key wickets at important junctures, ensuring that partnerships never flourished.
Rasikh’s performance was particularly impressive given the pressure situations he was brought into. Each time LSG looked to rebuild, he struck, dismantling the middle order and pushing the opposition further on the back foot. His control and composure stood out, marking it as one of his finest spells in the tournament so far.
Support from the rest of the bowling unit further strengthened the effort. Josh Hazlewood chipped in with a wicket while maintaining excellent economy, and Krunal Pandya added two wickets, though he proved slightly expensive. Suyash Sharma, despite going wicketless, kept things relatively contained in the middle overs.
Overall, it was a complete bowling performance that ensured LSG could only manage 146. With Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s experience, Rasikh Salam Dar’s brilliance, and Phil Salt’s moment of magic in the field, the bowling side firmly took control of the contest and set the stage for a confident chase.
