West Indies put up a batting masterclass at Wankhede against Zimbabwe in the Super 8 Fixture. It was a stunning performance with the bat. West Indies lost the wicket of Shai Hope and Brandon King early but Shimron Hetmyer took the attack to the bowlers and smashed a stunning half century of just 19 balls. Rovman Powell who started a bit slowly and has not had the runs coming into this match smashed a 29 ball half century. He brought up his half century of 29 balls and announced his return to form in style. He brought up the milestone by taking a single off Graeme Cremer.

Rovman Powell scored his half century in quick time as he put up a stunning partnership with Shimron Hetmyer to rescue West Indies from 54/2 to 176/3. Powell scored 4 fours and three sixes enroute to his half century. Coming into this game he had scored 9 against Italy, 14 against England, 24 against Scotland and there was pressure on him ahead of this game.

Rovman Powell was promoted above Sherfane Rutherford in this game and came into bat in the sixth over. He took his time initially and at one stage he was 14 runs off 16 balls. But in the next 13 balls he went all guns to bring up his half century. This also helped West Indies reach the fastest 150 for West Indies in T20 World Cups as they reached the 150 mark in just the 13th over. This was a much-needed innings from Powell and his ninth half century in his T20I career.  He also smashed a six which went more than 105m.

Shimron Hetmyer was dismissed for 85 of 34 balls as he lost his wicket to Cremer. West Indies were batting first in this game and started poorly, losing Brandon King early. Shai Hope also could score only 14 but Hetmyer and Powell have taken West Indies to a very strong position. Powell will look to create havoc in the last four overs of the innings as West Indies aim for a massive total against Zimbabwe.
