Steve Smith notched up his 37th Test century on Day 3 of the Fifth Test between England and Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. It was a pink day at the Stadium and the fans were treated to some classic batting as Steve Smith got to a fabulous century. He brought up his century with a nicely timed shot of spinner Jacob Bethell taking three runs and reached the landmark. It was a typical Steve Smith celebration just lifting his bat and acknowledging his home crowd.

His innings included 11 fours and one six. Smith started the innings with caution but later got into his groove and batted quite beautifully. This was his fifth century at the Sydney Cricket Ground and it is a place where he enjoys a lot of success with more 1000 Test runs at an average of more than 65 at this particular venue.
Australia started the day with night watchman Neser batting with Travis Head. It was a frustrating hour for England as Neser batted for 90 balls before being dismissed. After that wicket, Smith joined Head and both of them were ruthless against the England bowlers. Head scored 163 before being dismissed by Bethell.
It was a very ordinary effort with both ball and field for England as they gave too much width while bowling and also dropped more than 4 catches in this innings. They also lost all their three reviews in the first session itself. Smith scored his 37th Test century going past Rahul Dravid who has 36 and he is currently fifth in the list of Most Test centuries. He is only behind Ponting’s 41 centuries for an Australian batter. This was his 13th hundred at the Ashes.
